It aims to provide those who are just about to or just have moved to freelance journalism with what they need to know to get started successfully.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The course will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Turning your first commission into your first payment;<\/li>\n<li>The first things you need to know about managing your freelance business in planning, money, tax, legal issues, copyright, licensing, pitching and negotiating;<\/li>\n<li>The basics on taking care of your health, setting up an office, IT, marketing and pensions;<\/li>\n<li>Ways to develop your freelance business when it is up and running.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It costs \u00a360 for NUJ members, \u00a350 for student members and \u00a3110 for non-members. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuj.org.uk\/events\/first-steps-in-freelancing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More information and booking via the NUJ.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Update: the new date for this course is Friday 9 February.
